According to Pro Football Weekly, the rumor that the Seahawks could be interested in free-agent to be Houshmandzadeh might have some merit. Meanwhile, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat suggests the 49ers might be among those interested should the veteran WR hit the open market.

Houshmandzadeh, who will be a high-demand unrestricted free agent if he is not franchise-tagged by the Bengals, played his college ball near Seattle -- at Oregon State, and word is the Seahawks wants to avoid having to depend so much on unproven youngsters such as Ben Obomanu, Logan Payne and Courtney Taylor for another season. The Niners have greater needs but their interest in Houshmandzadeh would be understandable. Our guess is Seattle and San Francisco won't be alone in their interest. Stay tuned.
