Shockey will have sports hernia surgery this week, a league source said Monday. The Saints' top off-season offensive acquisition will be out an estimated three to six weeks.

According to Times-Picayune staffer Mike Triplett, the injury had been bothering Shockey for weeks but it was aggravated in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. Billy Miller and Mark Campbell will be asked to pick up the slack in Shockey's absence.
