The Facts:
Burress' absence from practice this morning was related completely to his injured ankle and had nothing at all to do with his contract negotiations, his agent told the Daily News. Drew Rosenhaus, who is in Albany today to meet with both Burress and the Giants, said the absence "is definitely not connected" to talks about a contract extension. In fact, he said those negotiations are going well, though "I wouldn't say anything is close."

Burress isn't talking to the media today, but Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano reports that a person who did talk to Burress said the receiver is not planning on practicing this afternoon. And while his agent said his decision to sit out is not related to his contract situation, Vacchiano reports that not everyone in the organization is convinced.
