A league source familiar with the Packers told ESPN's Michael Smith that the Packers are asking for a first-round pick in exchange for Favre in conversations with potentially trade partners. The same source added the no team is likely to meet that asking price.

Also of interest. ... ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that as of the top of this hour, Favre had not faxed his request for reinstatement to commissioner Roger Goodell and the Packers. That doesn't mean he won't, but with the Packers clearly willing to call his bluff -- continuing to maintain the veteran QB won't be released or immediately installed ahead of Aaron Rodgers as the starter on the first day of camp -- Favre appears to be taking the time necessary to think it all the way through. After all, does he really want to be a Jet? Stay tuned.
