According to SI.com's Peter King, Favre has gone underground. King's text messages for him and agent James "Bus" Cook went unreturned Friday and Sunday, and he still has not come out publicly and said anything about his desire to return to football.

As noted in
a series of previous items, the Packers spent considerable time over the weekend spinning their side of the story, making GM Ted Thompson and HC Mike McCarthy available to the media. "What's next? I don't know. I wish I knew," Thompson told King late Sunday afternoon, pretty much summing up the team's stance. "We're trying to do the right thing here, for Brett and for the franchise. ..." It remains to be seen what the right thing is but much will hinge on Favre. ... For what it's worth, King believes letting Favre play for a non-threatening franchise like Tampa Bay, or perhaps Washington or Baltimore, seems like the best option. Stay tuned.
