The Facts:
The Giants trimmed their roster by waiving five players Monday, including Lorenzen, who had been with the organization since 2004. Also released were four first-year players: Wide receiver Todd Lowber, long snapper Nick Leeson, defensive tackle Brian Soi and offensive lineman Jacobs Hobbs.

During his Giants tenure, Lorenzen played in four regular season games and one postseason game. In the regular season, Lorenzen threw eight passes and completed four for 28 yards -- all in 2007 -- and had one regular season rushing attempt for 2 yards. He also has one postseason rushing attempt for two yards. Both runs were in the 2006 season. The team signed former first-round pick David Carr this offseason; Anthony Wright and rookie Andre Woodson are the other QBs on the roster behind Eli Manning.
