HC Mike Nolan told reporters on Thursday that Smith will be do some stuff during next week's mini-camp, but probably will not be asked to throw vertical routes.

Smith, who underwent shoulder surgery last December, expects to practice without restrictions in training camp this summer. When he reports to training camp, Smith will face competition for the starting job from Shaun Hill. The fact that Hill gets a small head start on new OC Mike Martz' scheme could make that competition more interesting.
