Pace Of Derek Anderson Talks Slowing
(2/23 1:10 PT)

The Facts:
Following a meeting with Anderson's agents here Thursday night, Browns GM Phil Savage sounded a little less certain Friday that he can get Anderson signed before he becomes a restricted free agent next week. The Browns are offering a three-year deal worth about $18 million. Anderson's side is more interested in a six-year deal worth at least $68 million, but have also proposed a three-year deal with a substantially higher dollar value than the Browns offer. Reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Browns must either sign Anderson by 4 p.m. Thursday or tender him a one-year deal as a restricted free agent. They will give him the high tender of $2.562 million, meaning a team would have to give the Browns a first- and third-round pick if they sign him. As Plain Dealer staffer Mary Kay Cabot noted, there are about 8-12 NFL teams with issues this who could be interested in Anderson. So if he doesn't get a deal done with Cleveland, Cabot believes that will be an indication Anderson's agents have a good idea that there's a better offer out there.
