The Facts:

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
It should be noted that Gates told the San Diego Union-Tribune a final decision on the procedure will be made Wednesday, but the ESPN report is much more definite. In fact, Gates discussed his possible recovery time with ESPN.com's Matt Mosley by saying: "It may be the beginning of training camp and it may be the middle of the season. ..." On a more positive note, Mosley advises readers that Dr. Robert Anderson, one of the nation's top foot specialists, will perform the surgery. The Charlotte, N.C., surgeon has operated on numerous foot injuries that have allowed many players to return the next season.
