Surprise! Williams Allegedly Behind A Bounty Program In Buffalo
(3/4 8:53 PT)

The Facts:
During his time as Buffalo Bills head coach, Gregg Williams promoted cash bonuses for delivering hits that seriously injured opponents, former safety Coy Wire told The Buffalo News. "There was financial compensation," Wire said. Three other defensive players from that era, speaking to The News on condition of anonymity, confirmed that a bounty system existed during Williams' time with the Bills. Two of those players said cash bonuses were paid for "knockout shots" that sent opponents out of games. Reported by the Buffalo News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Seriously. Doe this really come as a surprise? Williams is the central figure of a two-year National Football League investigation that accused him of managing an illegal, behind-the-scenes payment system while defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. Williams admitted to the allegations and apologized in a statement Friday. Williams was the Bills' head coach from 2001 through 2003. The NFL did not mention the Bills or any of Williams' other former teams in Friday's announcement. The Washington Post, however, reported Williams had a similar off-the-books payment system in place while he was Redskins defensive coordinator, the job he took in 2004 after being fired by the Bills.
