The Facts:
Despite a variety of options, OC Brian Schottenheimer left little secret that he expects his third-year RB, Greene, to explode in 2011. Take note Fantasy Football owners: Schottenheimer & Co. firmly believe he’s ready to be the workhorse. “Shonn’s ready to take that next step,” Schottenheimer said.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Greene, of course, shared the load with Thomas Jones two years ago before being part of another two-man tandem with LaDainian Tomlinson last year. Expect that to change this fall. Schottenheimer told Daily News staffer Manish Mehta that “without a doubt” Greene will be the primary ball carrier with an opportunity to be a consistent 18-20-carry RB each week, which projects to 300-plus carries for the season. Greene has just 293 regular-season carries through his first two seasons. In fact, Greene had fewer carries than Tomlinson, who led the team with 914 rushing yards, in six of the first eight games. Greene had more carries than Tomlinson in eight of the final 10 games, including each of the Jets’ three playoff games. While it sounds like that will be the plan going forward, it would be nice to get some verification of that plan with some training camp/pre-season action.
