The Facts:
When Welker shredded his left knee in the regular-season finale against the Houston Texans last season, it was reported that he tore both his anterior cruciate ligament and his medial collateral ligament. Now, Welker is saying he only tore his ACL.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Welker had previously said he needed to let the MCL heal prior to undergoing the more serious ACL procedure. Regardless of whether he tore or just sprained the MCL, the Patriots' star wide receiver reports that his progress is "coming along pretty well." When will he be back? "We're not really putting a timetable on it," Welker said. "It's too early for that right now," Welker said. "My main thing is just working hard right now and getting back as soon as possible. ..." At this point, we'll go ahead and suggest that "as soon as possible" doesn't necessarily mean Week 1. In fact, it could be as late as midseason -- meaning we'll obviously be following his progress closely throughout the summer.
