The Packers are in contract negotiations with Jennings and are close to agreeing to a new deal, the veteran WR said Monday after mini-camp practice. "We've been working on some things. We're coming pretty close, as far as my understanding is, to some type of a deal," Jennings said.

Although Jennings stressed that it's not over until it's over, Journal-Sentinel staffer Lori Nickel points out this was the first time Jennings had publicly been so optimistic about a potential new contract with the team since he began seeking a new deal at the conclusion of the 2008 season. Based on recent deals for other receivers, Nick suggests that Jennings could be looking at a contract worth more than $8 million per year.
