This is no guarantee that there won’t be more Favre-to-the-Vikings news this week. However, it’s a safe bet that Favre won’t be officially joining the Vikings for the next eight days.

According to Star-Tribune staffer Judd Zulgad, that’s because HC Brad Childress is departing on a fishing trip to Alaska this morning and isn’t scheduled to return until next Monday. Also worth noting, the coach's daughter will be getting married July 11 in the Twin Cities area. Zulgad suspects she has requested that her father doesn’t help introduce any future Hall of Fame quarterbacks to the media around that time. All of which prompted Zulgad to suggest his best guess on this thing happening is just before training camp opens. Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio, on the other hand, believes the Vikings will take advantage of the schedule to make an earlier -- July 3 -- announcement. Meanwhile, SI.com's Peter King points out that the coach of the high school team where Favre has been working out said recently on Sirius NFL Radio that Favre’s arm looks fine. ... Stay tuned.
