The Facts:
Mlive.com's Tom Kowalski was given a small indication on Friday that Culpepper will not be among the players who will be let go on Monday -- the first day NFL teams can officially release veterans. Nothing, though, was confirmed.

Because Culpepper is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on Feb. 27 -- a bonus that will trigger a $2.5 million salary for the upcoming season -- many observers have expected his release. Keeping Culpepper, and possibly Jon Kitna, makes for an interesting situation at QB for the Lions. As Kowalski asked, did the addition of OC Scott Linehan enhance Culpepper's chances of starting next season or did GM Martin Mayhew -- who brought Culpepper in during mid-season last year -- already plan to have Culpepper in the mix? And how does Drew Stanton fit into this equation? Lots of questions; few answers.
