Santonio Holmes Discusses Drug-Dealing Past
(1/29 7:12 PT)

The Facts:
Holmes is using the stage that the Super Bowl offers as a platform, too. The message the Steelers' WR wants to spread is that selling drugs, something he admittedly did in his youth, is not the only option for kids who grow up without much money or hope. "If I continued down that path, I wouldn't be here," Holmes said Wednesday. "I've only told three or four people maybe throughout my lifetime about that, and at the moment I felt like it was time to share things." Reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Holmes said he sold drugs with his friends before focusing his attention on sports, particularly football. He earned a scholarship to Ohio State, and the former first-round draft pick is in his third season with the Steelers. Holmes said he long ago closed the chapter in his life and has rarely talked about it. However, he missed a game against the New York Giants in October after Pittsburgh police charged him with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
