Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
When the Falcons hired the Patriots director of college scouting to be their new GM January 13, 2008, Atlanta was on the verge of melting down in the wake of Mike Vick's legal woes and Bobby Pertrino's decision to abandon the franchise near the end of the 2007 season. ... A year later, the Falcons have a franchise QB in Matt Ryan, the coach of the year in Mike Smith and a young foundation bolstered by a home run of a 2008 draft class. As TSN's Albert Breer put it: "Dimitroff did more than change the players. He changed the franchise. ..." Worth noting: Dimitroff becomes the third man in the last 15 years to win the honor in his first year with a new team.
