In other words, the Jets were no closer Thursday night to dealing for Favre than they were last Friday when they were first mentioned as being one of his suitors. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, called in as a mediator in the Favre/Packers dispute, Thursday chose not to immediately reinstate Favre, instead giving the player and his former team another day to reach an agreement. And Newsday staffer Erik Boland suggests there there are growing indications that the two sides might do just that. Citing an unnamed league source, Boland reports that Favre is now seriously considering a marketing deal with the team that could be worth as much as $20 million, the one offered to him by team president Mark Murphy on Wednesday.
