The Facts:
First-round draft pick Stewart will be on the field for the start of training camp. Stewart agreed to a contract sometime in the wee hours of the morning, according to public relations direction Charlie Dayton. Jeff Otah, the team's other first-round draft pick, signed his deal Friday night.

According to Gazette staffer Steve Reed, both men will practice today. That's big news for Stewart, who is coming off toe surgery that kept him from participating fully in the off-season program. We'll remind you, however,that the Panthers' team doctor was the man who performed the surgery; we suspect team officials had considerable insight into his condition before burning the 13th pick overall to secure his services.
