The Facts:
Per a tipster, Favre is abandoning his attempt to return to the NFL. We’re told the Packers presented him with a list of three teams to which they’d attempt to trade him, and that Favre refused each one.

While this is still in the rumor stage, we'll note that PFT has been ahead of the curve on a number of recent stories. We also happen to agree with the notion Favre realizes last week's efforts to cast GM Ted Thompson and the Packers as villains fell flat with the tampering chargers filed against the Vikings. Bottom line: It's starting to look like Favre has botched this one. We still like this take (first shared in
Sunday's Fantasy Notebook) by St. Paul Pioneer Press columnist Tom Powers: "Favre hasn't gotten his release, he has been demoted to backup, he has been discouraged from reporting to Packers camp at all and he has been called a liar and, now, a traitor. ... He might want to take a knee." If this report is accurate, one could surmise Favre would be doing just that.
