The Facts:
After missing off-season workouts while recovering from toe surgery, Stewart remains somewhat of a mystery to the Panthers. But GM Marty Hurney said Stewart has spent time in Charlotte this summer, running and rehabilitating. He said he expects Stewart to be able to practice whenever he signs. "He seems like he's doing OK," Hurney said.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The "whenever he signs" angle is a little worrisome, however. "I think any time you're still talking, you really don't have a feel" for when a deal might get done, Hurney said said of negotiations with Stewart's agents. "But we're talking. We'll know more by the end of the week. ..." Rookie holdouts aren't unprecedented for the Panthers. It happened as recently as last season when No. 1 pick Jon Beason, the 25th overall selection, held out for eight days. The 230-pound Stewart, the 13th pick overall this year, is expected to give the team a more rugged ground game than it's had in recent seasons.
