Plaxico Burress Skipping Mini-Camp To Protest Contract
(6/11 12:58 PT)

The Facts:
On the day when everyone expected tight end Jeremy Shockey to be the one making headlines, it was Burress who dropped the bomb: He's not participating in mini-camp because he's unhappy with his contract. "Me and my agent (Drew Rosenhaus) have been trying to get a deal done, so I can (be) a New York Giant for a long time," Burress said today. "I personally don't like the way its going. I'm not happy about it and I'm going to choose not to participate." Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Burress, who signed a 6-year, $25 million deal in 2005, is scheduled to earn $10 million over the next three seasons. As Star-Ledger beat writer Mike Garafolo reminded readers, near the end of last season -- after playing all year on an injured ankle -- Burress claimed that he was one of the best receivers in the NFL, despite being hobbled. Now it appears, he wants to be paid like it. ... We'll obviously be watching to see how acrimonious -- or not -- this one gets in coming weeks.
