The Facts:
The Chiefs intend to go easy on Johnson when off-season practice begins today. The Chiefs have 15 practice sessions planned over the next four weeks, including their June 6-8 mini-camp. "We'll bring him along slowly," HC Herm Edwards said. "We're not going to beat him up. We're not going to rush him a whole lot. We want to see where he's at."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Star staffer Adam Teicher suggests, any doubt about Johnson's value to the Chiefs disappeared last November when they lost all eight games after his season ended prematurely because of a broken foot. Hence the cautious approach. ... The Chiefs also have Kolby Smith and third-round draft pick Jamaal Charles at running back and want to give considerable snaps to both players. Edwards said they also feel a need to get a look at Johnson. "He needs to get out there because we're running a new offense," Edwards said, adding it also takes some work to build chemistry with the line.
