Panthers Reach Deal With D.J. Hackett
(3/17 9:41 PT)

The Facts:
The Panthers agreed to terms Monday with Seattle’s free-agent receiver on a two-year, $3.5 million contract. "D.J. is extremely excited," said Hackett's agent, Kevin Robinson. "He was impressed with Marty Hurney, coach (John) Fox and really liked the entire Carolina organization." Reported by the Charlotte Observer

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Hackett improves the Panthers’ depth at the receiver position opposite Steve Smith. He is expected to compete with Muhsin Muhammad and Dwayne Jarrett for a starting spot. Some local observers expect Hackett to step right into that starting role with Muhammad serving as the No. 3. Jarrett, recently charged with DUI, needs to pick up the pace in order to secure a more significant role.
