The Facts:
Coles, whom the Jets want to attend off-season workouts that begin today, is upset. He has said
the organization "lied" for the past two seasons about giving him a long-term deal. He has recently told teammates that he'll see them in July at training camp.
Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger
Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Coles hasn't budged in his demand for a new deal, although the Jets took the unusual step of offering to guarantee the final two years ($11 million) of his contract. But he says that is money he's going to earn anyway. The club has denied his request to seek a trade on his own. "I have all the respect in the world for Laveranues," GM Mike Tannenbaum said. "We had a good conversation a couple of weeks ago. The dialogue continues."
