The Facts:
Conversations between the Eagles and the Cardinals regarding the availability of Fitzgerald were held, according to a league source, but the Cardinals' asking price for Fitzgerald "was absurd," according to the source.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Cardinals have insisted Fitzgerald, despite his $14.6 million salary, will play for them this season even if the two sides can't agree to a restructed deal offering cap relief. But you have to wonder if Fitzgerald's failure to accept an offer making him the league's highest-paid receiver -- a failure that has put the kibosh on major free agent moves -- isn't wearing thin at team headquarters. ... Whatever the case, it's safe to say no team will trade for Fitzgerald, who is due a whopping $17.4 million in 2009, unless they can get him to agree to a new contract beforehand no matter what the Cardinals want in return.
