Latest Larry Fitzgerald; GM Still Making His Case
(2/24 12:33 PT)

The Facts:
There was no movement Saturday in negotiations with Fitzgerald's agent, Eugene Parker , but in a press conference GM Rod Graves hinted at one of the team's negotiating points. A top player who receives an acceptable offer "has to become vested in the future of the football team," Graves said. "In many cases, we've seen examples of players willing to take restructured deals. They're willing to do something that ensures the progress of the team in terms of talent building. That's what I expect our players to do."  Reported by the Arizona Republic

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As noted in a previous item, the Cardinals' offer is the largest ever for a receiver, according to sources, but so far the two sides have not even agreed on the length of the contract. The Cardinals offered is believe to be for six years, while Parker is asking for four. In case you haven't been paying attention, Fitzgerald has earned incentives that pushed his 2008 salary to $14.6 million and his 2009 salary to $17.35 million. The Cardinals obviously want to extend that contract and lower Fitzgerald's impact on the cap.
