Everyone is talking about Antonio Gates' physical attributes. Personally, I am focusing on who his QB will be. If rookie Philip Rivers can beat out Drew Brees for the starting job (I put a 60% chance of this happening) I think it can do wonders for Gates. Rookie QBs tend to check it down to the TE a lot. A perfect example of this came in '02 when Texans' rookie QB David Carr entered the league as a starter. Carr's constant check downs resulted in TE Billy Miller, an unknown at the time, finishing as a top ten TE.
