Redskins Would Indeed Be Interested In Peyton Manning
(1/30 12:53 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Redskins rank among teams that have repeatedly been linked to Manning, and a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed that Washington would have interest in the quarterback should he become available and recover fully. But those are big ifs, so it’s much too early to predict what would happen, one league official said. “No. 1, is he going to be released? No. 2, is he going to be healthy? No. 3, at the end of the day, is he willing to come back and play in the NFL. We don’t know those questions,” said the official. Reported by the Washington Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Post staffer Mike Jones noted, each new day produces some type of Manning news, and with it comes more debate over whether the Redskins, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, or some other team will make pursue him this offseason. We'll go ahead and suggest that if he was healthy, he wouldn't be available. And if he's not healthy, a team would be crazy to pin its chances for success on him this season. None of which will slow the speculation and rumors in the least. So, we'll continue to toss them out there as they come up. But take it all with a grain of salt. That said, the edskins find themselves in dire need of a quarterback and are expected to address the position either through the draft or free agency this offseason. So even if it's too early to divine Manning's future, we do know the Skins will be making a move. Rex Grossman, who last season threw 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 13 games, is due to become a free agent and the team is likely to look at all options.
