The Facts:
A source familiar with the Packers' operation said it was expected that QBs coach Tom Clements would replace OC Joe Philbin. HC Mike McCarthy didn't deny that the hire most likely would come from within, but he would not commit to anything right now. "Your first intent is to look within," McCarthy said. "That's where you start. But I don't want to talk about that now. This is Joe's moment. He deserves all the attention.

With Philbin
moving on to become HC of the Dolphins, Clements is a logical replacement because he has experience as a coordinator, serving from 2004-'05 in that capacity with the Bills. He came to the Packers in '06 and has been QBs coach all six years. The Bears pursued Clements for their offensive coordinator's job two years ago, but McCarthy denied permission to interview him. It's possible that at that time, McCarthy promised Clements he would be the coordinator if Philbin left. If Clements is his choice, it's likely he would make that move fairly soon. ... Meanwhile, McCarthy would would not say whether he and Philbin had an agreement on which, if any, assistant coaches he could take with him to Miami. WRs coach Edgar Bennett, a Florida native and associate of Philbin's since '03, would be a candidate to be Philbin's coordinator.
