The Rams have hired Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator. According to league sources, it was a close call between Schottenheimer and Hue Jackson.

Those sources told Post-Dispatch staffer Jim Thomas that Rams head coach Jeff Fisher was impressed with Jackson following their interview earlier this week. But not enough to roll with him. ... Schottenheimer, 38, comes to the Rams after six seasons as offensive coordinator with the New York Jets. Although there has been no official announcement by the team, the Rams now have both coordinators in place with Schottenheimer on offense and Gregg Williams on defense.
