In his first meeting with reporters since the season ended at 8-8 without a playoffs bid, Johnson said he is "concerned but confident" the relationship between Holmes and QB Mark Sanchez can be salvaged. He does not regret giving Holmes a five-year, $45 million contract this past offseason, explaining, "he may be one of the best players we have ever had here" and . He also denied money is the reason Holmes will be back. "They've won a lot of games together, and one is good for the other," Johnson said. "Santonio makes the quarterback a lot better, and vice versa. So they have a good reason to iron this thing out. I think they can do it. ..."
