Williams comes to the Vikings after 10 years in Indianapolis, where he coached defensive backs. After a three-year stint coaching the St. Louis Rams' defensive line, Daly returns to Minnesota, where he worked under former defensive line coach Karl Dunbar from 2006-08. Williams takes over for Fred Pagac, who is expected to accept a demotion to linebackers coach, a position he held from 2006-10. According to Pioneer Press staffer Jeremy Fowler, Frazier has close ties to Williams from his days coaching Indianapolis' defensive backs from 2005-06. Williams is a disciple of the Tampa-2 defense, of which the Vikings run a variation. Colts defensive backs Antoine Bethea and Bob Sanders went to multiple Pro Bowl seasons under Williams' tutelage. The Colts' passing defense ranked 15th in pass defense last season.
