The Facts:
Following up on
an ongoing story. ... Smith says he “absolutely” expects to be the 49ers’ starting QB next season even though he is still a free agent. Smith spoke for the first time after a four-day informal mini-camp at San Jose State that teammates dubbed “Camp Alex.” More than two dozen 49ers players participated, mostly on the offensive side.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to CSNBayArea.com staffer Matt Maiocco, Smith decided to re-sign with the 49ers before April 29, when the lockout was briefly lifted -- although the deal isn't actually done. But assuming he's back, there is no reason for Fantasy Football owners to question his starting status. His relationship with Michael Crabtree? That's another matter -- although Smith also said Thursday that his
perceived feud with Crabtree was “blown out of proportion.” He said their relationship is fine and they’re working to find a rhythm on the field that has never developed.
