The Facts:
Packers president Mark Murphy said in an interview Friday that he reached an agreement to extend the contract of GM Ted Thompson. The deal was actually completed in December, Murphy said, but neither side wanted to announce it before the season was over. The Packers are expected to announce the signing soon.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Thompson had two years left on his contract after the 2010 season and this will be his second extension since becoming general manager in 2005. It's not known how long the extension is for, but it's likely it's for three year more years so that Thompson is locked in for five years. ... Meanwhile, Murphy said that in recent weeks work has been done on HC Mike McCarthy's contract and he expects a deal will be completed with him very soon. Murphy said he would like to have both contracts mirror each other and was confident that would happen. "I'm confident that they will both be here long-term," Murphy said. "I'm confident we'll work something out with Mike."
