The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... HC Pete Carroll -- on his radio show on 710 ESPN Seattle -- said he wasn't going to rush a decision on naming a starting QB for this week's game at Tampa Bay. "Today, Matt's taking the snaps," Carroll said during his coach's show with Mike Salk and Brock Huard. "He's the No. 1 quarterback. ..." Carroll said he needs to see where Hasselbeck is at after what he described as a tough couple weeks. "It sounds like it's way up in the air in my mind," Carroll said. "It isn't." The big issues are: Hasselbeck has 13 turnovers—10 interceptions and three fumbles—in the past four games. But Seattle (6-8) is tied with St. Louis on top of the NFC West. Carroll may be reluctant to start an inexperienced Charlie Whitehurst with a playoff spot on the line.
