Thomas has been seeking a long-term deal and that remains a possibility. But it likely will take some sort of compromise because Thomas reportedly has been seeking to become one of the league’s highest-paid running backs. With plans to use him in a rotation with Reggie Bush and Lynell Hamilton, ESPN's Pat Yasinskas suggests the Saints aren’t likely to give Thomas the money he’s looking for. Yasinskas further believes the uncertainty over the league’s labor situation after this season also could be a reason why the Saints are hesitant to commit to a long-term deal.
