The Latest: Brandon Marshall's Procedure Minor
(5/20 3:21 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on an ongoing story. ... A source close to Marshall confirmed Thursday morning that Marshall had hip surgery two weeks ago, which will keep him out of all offseason workouts and may affect his availability for the start of training camp at the end of July. The source maintained, though, that the Dolphins should not be concerned about Marshall’s hip for the 2010 season. “It’s minor. It’s nothing for anyone to get up in arms about,” the source said. “I think the shock was no one knew what happened, so when they found out what happened, it became big news. But it was really nothing.” Reported by the Palm Beach Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
HC Tony Sparano was reluctant to reveal much information about Marshall’s “procedure” at Wednesday's organized team activity, including which body part needed repair. But Sparano maintained that the surgery was “routine” and that the Dolphins were not worried about Marshall’s availability for the regular season. Indeed, Marshall, despite being just a fifth-year receiver, has a lengthy history of missing his team’s OTAs and mini-camps. Despite his lack of participation in offseason workouts, Marshall has played in at least 15 games and posted 100-plus catches in each of the past three seasons.
