The Facts:
Stafford won't be calling his own plays at the line of scrimmage like Peyton Manning does for the Colts, but the second-year QB will be given much more freedom than last year. Stafford has such a command of the offense that the Lions will give him the freedom to audible at the line of scrimmage. For the most part, the adjustments will be from run-to-pass and pass-to-run, but he'll be allowed to do it in more situations.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Unlike last season, when Stafford split reps in training camp and then missed a good deal of practice during the season because of injury, he's taking all the No. 1 reps now. While the Lions haven't confirmed anything, it's likely that the one time Stafford will be able to call his own play is when he sees a favorable matchup -- or busted coverage -- concerning receiver Calvin Johnson. Stafford's success rate in making those types of audibles will determine how loose the coaching leash will get.
