Appearing on WEEI Radio in Boston, Brady told listeners he sees a lot of value in the addition of veterans David Patten and Torry Holt, who he said will both play on the outside in the Patriots offense — don’t expect either in the slot position typically manned by Wes Welker.

“They both have very good speed, both are really precise route-runners,” Brady said of the veteran newcomers. “Both guys are very smart players, they know how to set up their routes. I love having David back. He’s one of my favorite teammates with his work ethic. He’s produced a lot in some really big games for us. ...” Meanwhile, Brady confirmed he and Welker have been working out together as Welker rehabs his ACL injury, but didn’t provide much of an update on his progress. Brady also noted second-year pro Brandon Tate has had a “great offseason” so far.
