The Facts:
Several key Lions players who ended the season on the injured reserve list were back on the field Thursday for an OTA practice and, while most of them weren't 100 percent, there were many encouraging signs. QB Matthew Stafford, who missed games because of knee and shoulder injuries, was taking part in all of the drills and throwing the ball without any problems. TE Brandon Pettigrew and RB Kevin Smith, who are both returning from late-season knee surgeries, took part in individual drills and looked good.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
"Those guys are starting to do individual drills and stuff like that. They're not even close to being cleared for team work and competitive stuff," HC Jim Schwartz said. "They're not right in the middle of a long-term rehab, but they're probably more past the middle. But they've still got a long way to go. ..." Stafford is expected to be good to go for the start of training camp; Pettigrew doesn't have a timetable other than he expects to be ready for Week 1. ... And Smith? Minneapolis Star-Tribune staffer Mark Craig, citing a source close to the situation, advised readers earlier this week that Smith might not be 100 percent until 2011, if ever.
