Kevin Smith Progressing; Fine With Addition Of Best
(4/28 1:1 PT)

The Facts:
After suffering a knee injury last season, Smith started rehab as soon as he was permitted and has progressed steadily with weight lifting and work with the team trainers. At the team’s first organized team activity (OTA) last Tuesday, he was able to run routes, getting in and out of breaks and participating in handoffs and other individual drills. “I probably won’t be doing anything major for awhile,” said Smith. “Camp time is my goal." Reported by DetroitLions.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Remember: Smith is coming off a less-than stellar season that ended with December surgery for a torn ACL. And since the Lions traded back into the first round to land speedy RB Jahvid Best, there won't be as much pressure to hurry Smith back -- even if that's his goal. Indeed, Smith expects to battle Best for carries. “I’ve never been one to shy away from competition,” Smith said. ... We still recommend taking a wait-and-see approach with Smith's recovery before expecting a full-blown competition this summer.
