With Nate Kaeding nursing a groin injury that he suffered while practicing for the Pro Bowl, the Chargers need a warm body to swing a leg during OTAs amd minicamp. And so they've signed Novak.

Out of the NFL in 2009, Novak last kicked for the Chiefs in 2008. He previously kicked for the Cardinals and the Redskins. His chances of holding onto a roster spot beyond camp -- at least in San Diego -- lie somewhere between slim and none.
