The Buccaneers announced the release of Askew, a veteran FB, on Monday.

Askew, 29, joined the Bucs as a free agent in 2009, but was frequently injured. Last season, he was placed on the non-football injury list after hurting his neck and back in a car accident in October, forcing RB Earnest Graham to move to FB. Askew had three years remaining on a five-year, $7.6 million contract signed in May 2008. ... Chris Pressley likely will take over as the Bucs' starting FB.
