The Facts:
Though the punishment imposed remains to be seen, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has stated unequivocally that Roethlisberger has violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy. "[T]here has been a violation of [the Personal Conduct Policy]. The issue here is with respect to a pattern of behavior and bad judgments."

Goodell prefaced that remark by saying everybody in the NFL has to live to a higher standard. The commissioner then reminded listeners: "You do not have to be convicted or even charged of a crime to be able to demonstrate that you've violated a Personal Conduct Policy, and reflect poorly not only on themselves, but all of their teammates, every NFL player in the league, and everyone associated with the NFL. ..." Meanwhile, various reports over the last two days suggest Roethlisberger will be suspended this week -- Wednesday seems to be the most likely target day. Stay tuned.
