Portis, who suffered a concussion in Week 9 and missed the remainder of last season, has been medically cleared to participate in the Redskins' first voluntary mini-camp, which continues at Redskins Park.

And, more importantly, Portis has been cleared to take contact -- although there will be none of that in mini-camp. "We were able to get some of the best medical experts across the country to analyze him, and he's been cleared for practice," GM Bruce Allen said. ... Per the Post, doctors prescribed corrective lenses to help Portis with vision problems that bothered him after he received the season-ending hit on Nov. 8. ... Portis will compete with veteran additions Larry Johnson and Willie Parker for carries this summer.
