With LaDainian Tomlinson signing with the Jets instead of the Vikings, HC Brad Childress was asked if Young could end up as the No. 2 RB behind Adrian Peterson. "Yeah," Childress said, before adding, "We always keep turning over the rocks and you're always trying to look on your roster and look at what's out there."

Young, once considered a longshot to make the roster, has impressed Childress. "Young is a guy that has developed here tremendously in the last two years," the coach said last month. "As a matter of fact, Brett Favre and I had a long conversation about him when we were down south and he believes he’s got a chance to be a good back in this league. ..." While it's worth putting Young on your radar, the Vikings could still make a move in free agency or the draft.
