After apparently injuring his left leg on the last play of the first half, Smith lay for several minutes in the end zone before limping toward the Panthers’ locker room. But Smith was back on the field for the Panthers’ first offensive possession of the second half Sunday.

Smith was behind a group of Panthers receivers and ta Falcons defenders when Jake Delhomme’s 52-yard pass was knocked down in the left side of the end zone. Game officials drove a cart out to pick him up, but Smith left the field under his own power.
