Titans owner Bud Adams showed he still has the back of the embattled Young, who turned in an impressive performance in a 27-20 preseason victory over the Bucs. Asked if there's any scenario in which Young is not on the roster this fall, Adams replied: "What do you mean not on the team? He's under contract. He is not going anywhere but right here. He is our future QB."

Young has three years remaining on a contract that's set to expire in 2011. While his contract status for this season -- he's due to make $2.16 million and count $4.62 against the salary cap — makes him affordable, the events of last season and unsteady play since then raised questions about just how safe his roster spot might be for this fall. Young's base salary rises to $7.5 million next year, when he's due to count $14.2 million against the cap.
