Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Winslow, who was traded from the Browns to Bucs in February, told Wickersham that he woke up one October morning sore in the groin area, but figured the problem would go away. Winslow said by the next morning "my testicles were enlarged, to the point where it hurt to walk. ..." He was rushed to the Cleveland Clinic. Because the team would not release any details until there was no official diagnosis, rumors spread that Winslow had a sexually transmitted disease -- a fact that didn't sit well with him at the time (and which still doesn't). His complaint the Browns treated him like a piece of meat drew a one-game suspension (later rescinded). The diagnosis of staph was later confirmed by doctors and announced by then-GM Phil Savage. The piece offers
more details about the treatment (not for the squeamish) and Winslow's disappointment in teammates for failing to back him.
